60stars Astrology Off Season 2
105 Myths and Celestial Bodies
① Sirius and Canopus (Off Season ②-1)
1. I decided to start Season 6 probably after the autumnal equinox, so I will write an article occasionally until then.
But, I may start Season 6 a little sooner or a little later than expected.
So, Off-Season②, which I will be writing for a while, may not be very useful for astrology, If you want to read horoscopes, you don't have to read this blog until autumn.
It's okay to skip it!
I will solely write articles about celestial bodies and such.
I prefer to avoid the occult every year around the beginning of July, because it is the season of ghosts!
2. Now, today's topic is Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, and Canopus, the second brightest star.

2. Now, today's topic is Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, and Canopus, the second brightest star.
As I have drawn a graph in the picture at the top of this article, Sirius will be the brightest star for at most only 300,000 years within ±1 million years (2 million years in total) starting from the present day.
For about 60% of these 2 million years, Canopus will actually be the brightest star.
Other than Sirius and Canopus, Vega will be the brightest star for more than 200,000 years in the future (starting about 210,000 years after).
In the past, there were brief periods when Aldebaran and Capella were the brightest stars.
But basically all these years,
Canopus is the brightest star.
3. Canopus is a southern star, so we can hardly see it from Japan.
Tanu-chan was very impressed by the bright white Canopus seen in Guam.

For nearly 3 million years out of the last 5 million years, Canopus was the brightest star (see Wikipedia).
So, it remains in the legend.
4. Some may say, “I don't know such a legend,” but Osiris is related to Canopus, while Isis in Egyptian mythology is Sirius.
4. Some may say, “I don't know such a legend,” but Osiris is related to Canopus, while Isis in Egyptian mythology is Sirius.
Osiris was killed by his enemies by dismembering his body into 14 pieces, and Canopus means a container for internal organs.
It's a little bit scary !
Canopus is the star of the container of the organs of the deceased king.
Ancient people saw Canopus being overwhelmed by the light of nearby Sirius in real time, so they must have made the legend that Canopus dies and Sirius shines.
Since the headship alternation between Canopus and Sirius is said to have occurred about 90,000 years ago, the prototype of these legends must be even older than we currently think.
Tanu-chan calls them "the Sirius-Canopus belt", and these stars are still very influential today, ruling between 8° ~ 12° degrees of Cancer♋ .
Well, that's all for today.
