Mini Appendix 1    Famous Triangles and Pyramids

1.  Tanu-chan thinks that most pyramids, especially those that are considered "sacred pyramids", are mathematically representing famous triangles.

And I think that there is no pyramid that has no special significance in terms of angles.

Of course, Tanu-chan is an amateur, so I don't really know!

.....By any chance, some of them might have been built at random because they became troublesome in the process of making them.




2.  Focusing on the lengths of the pyramid's sides, first of all, I think there are many triangles that use the so-called golden ratio ( Φ ), such as the pyramid of King Khufu and the pyramid of Meidum.

The Pyramid of King Khufu has a length ratio of 1: √Φ : Φ. 

As I have written before, you can see various ways of looking at it by multiplying √Φ by each side.

(√Φ) : (√Φ) squared : (√Φ) cubed

(√Φ)cubed : (√Φ)squared : (√Φ)quintuplicated

...and so on.

The famous right triangle with a length ratio of 3:4:5 is also represented in the pyramid of King Khafre.

For something a bit unique, the √1:√2:√3 triangle is used in the bent pyramid, I believe (....perhaps!)

I also think that the 1:2:√5 triangle might be King Djoser's staircase pyramid.

This pyramid was said to have been 62 meters in both height and base at the beginning, so I wonder if this is what it was.

I think the angle is a bit too tight, and even if it really was, I think it would have to be a staircase shape !....??

....But there's no right triangle with a 1:1:√2 ratio and that one .

3.  Anyway, next, let's look at the angles.

Maybe the right triangle of King Menkaurer's pyramid uses the angle ratio 3:4:7 (3 + 4 = 7), based on 7 !

It is a very beautiful ratio.

Also, the Red Pyramid has a slope of about 43 degrees and 20 minutes, so I think the ratio of angles based on 7 is also used.

However, it is said to be lower now than when it was built, so it may be that the inclination is actually exactly around 44 degrees.

If so, I think they might be showing a number like √3 + 2, (2 + √3/2), or something like that.

But I don't think the slope was 45 degrees; it can't be 1:1:√2.

......Hmmm, but "that one" never shows up, does it?




4.  Now, what I have been saying "doesn't show up" is a very famous triangle in terms of both side length and angle.

Yes, that's right.

A triangle whose sides have lengths of 1 for the base, 2 for the hypotenuse, and √3 for the height,
　
A triangle with the ratio of angles 1:2:3, having angles of 

30° : 60° : 90°.

A right triangle that is too famous to know its name well, half of an equilateral triangle

... The ruler triangle that teachers use in geometry class in school.

Let's call it the “ruler triangle.”


Why don't we see "that one" ?  ...It's so famous, but....

5.  And speaking of famous triangles, like this ruler triangle as well as the 1:1:√2 right triangle....

Yes, right triangle with the golden triangle relationship, such as 72 degrees:18 degrees:90 degrees, or 36 degrees:54 degrees:90 degrees, etc.

6.  But, Tanu-chan still search for that right triangle with a base angle of 60° or a vertex angle of 30°, that "ruler triangle".


..... There are a lot of pyramids in Egypt, but I am sure there are some that have not been found yet, and I think there are many more in the Upper Nile (Sudan).

There may be some in other parts of South America, China, etc.

So, Tanu-chan plans to search for these slowly!

Of course, that doesn't mean that I want to go to Egypt.
...In fact, I don't really want to go there that much...
