１．Up to this point, we have talked about rules.  

But among the many rules in this universe,  
there are also *local rules*—those that exist in the world of living people,  in other words, in human society.  

This is a story about how we see cycles within that world.  

This topic is, perhaps, slightly related to the story of addition and multiplication.  

Just a little, probably!  

In fact, the discussion of multiplication and addition  
is connected to human perception itself—  
that is, to the way we, being unable to sense other universes  
that are constantly spreading out in time and space,  
live within a kind of closed domain of awareness.  

But, leaving that aside for now—  
of course, there are many kinds of cycles in the universe.  

The Sun’s orbit around the center of our galaxy,  
which takes a little over 200 million years,  
can be considered one cycle.  

The precession of the Earth’s axis, about 26,000 years,  
can also be seen as a single cycle.  

However, what I am going to write from here is about ordinary human cycles.  

Yes,......Numbers advance by tens.

  
But that is the human way of thinking— not necessarily the way other living creatures think.  

Cats, frogs, and pigeons probably don’t care much about it.  

Cows and goats likely don’t either.  

However, just as there are males and females,  
just as there are two legs,  
and just as DNA is made of two intertwined chains—  
the number 2, as a kind of cycle or distinction,  is important even for animals.  

２．In human thinking,  if we take the head as the center,  
there are right arm, left arm, right leg, and left leg—so, five. 

 
Well, if we count the head as the center,  
we could also say there are four parts.  

When counting with fingers, we have ten on the hands.  
Including toes, we have twenty.  

If we fold the fingers as we count,  
we can count up to forty.  

In other words,  
5 as a base,  
then 10, 20, and so on,  
are the basic units in the human world.  

Well, I think everyone knows that already.  

1 and 2 and 5 — multiplied, they make 10.  

10 × 2 = 20  
10 × 5 = 50 …
