Φ²⁰　” The collaboration ”

1．Now then, to return to the earlier topic for a moment—
let me write a bit more about how the world itself is framed upon the numbers 1, 2, and 5.

The stories of The Lord of the Rings, the Fermat numbers,
and the golden ratio Φ—these are two sides of the same tale.

By the way, most people have already sensed, in some way,
that The Lord of the Rings was not written entirely by Tolkien alone.

Tolkien was a genius of language, of course.

......So, yes, much of it may indeed have been his own creation.

But to remember directions so precisely, to draw maps so accurately, and to weave numbers so skillfully—
surely he was helped by those who read the stars, by elves, and by the priestly orders.

2. And more obviously still—there are the dwarves and the hobbits.

The dwarves are a rather mysterious folk.
Their way of thinking cannot be understood unless one has a touch of dwarven blood.

Some dwarves love gold—or metals—others, hats.

Of course, there are dwarves who appear very modest.
But if you look closely, you can tell they are dwarves.

Some, as a whole, have slightly shorter arms and legs.

Hobbits, on the other hand, love to eat or cook delicious food at small feasts, and to gather together, laughing, playing atop fallen leaves and dry branches.

It’s a world like Anne of Green Gables.

The thoughts of hobbits, too, cannot be understood by anyone
without a bit of hobbit blood.

.......And this is important:

The feelings of dwarves cannot be understood by hobbits,
and the feelings of hobbits cannot be understood by the sturdy dwarves.

So even that alone makes me think that Tolkien could not have written that story entirely on his own.

In other words, that great work was probably a collaboration—
centered on Tolkien, yes,
but also including those who read the stars, the priests, those with elven or hobbit blood, those of dwarven descent,
and those who still remembered the maps of the world.

All of them worked together—
In preparation for the time to come again.
