Part 1: The Sun and Power

1. Let's begin by explaining the astrological meaning of the Sun.

The Sun's meaning is wide-ranging, but fundamentally, it signifies powerful energy and dominant energy.

When in favorable(good) aspects, the Sun for a woman often represents the fortune of her male partner (husband), but I'll write about that next time.

Additionally, the Sun signifies the head, eyes, heart, and blood vessels.
When in bad aspects, one might suffer head injuries or eye troubles, though this isn't always the case.

Well, high blood pressure is somewhat unavoidable, I suppose.

2. Now, when considering the Sun☉ as a powerful energy and force, bad aspects indicate oppression by superiors or authority figures.

Specifically, this can mean being arrested or confined to a detention facility.

A famous example is Napoleon.

Arrested during the Thermidorian Reaction, he was released but fell from power, wandering from acquaintance to acquaintance in tattered military uniform.

Moreover, oppression through power can also be linked to direct violence.

Chiang Kai-shek(蔣介石) deeply respected Chen Qimei(陳其美) as an elder brother and worked alongside him under Sun Yat-sen(孫文).

However, in May 1916, Chen Qimei was assassinated by an assassin sent by the Beijing government.

At this moment, Chiang Kai-shek vowed through tears to carry on Chen's legacy and become the cornerstone of the Republic of China.

Such events—oppression, arrest, violence—are deeply painful for the individual.

But look closely. It is from here that they rise anew.

In other words, when the Sun squares in early life, it signifies the loss of a spoiled-child mentality or youthful attitude, and the transition to independence as a man.

For those stepping into a harsh world, enduring hardship here is essential for later life.

Therefore, when looking back, it's not all negative.

3. So then, what happens when the Sun, representing power or energy, forms a favorable (good) aspect?

Naturally, some individuals begin their quest for power in accordance with this meaning.

For example, General Park Chung-hee led a military coup in May 1961 and established the Military Revolutionary Committee.

This is a case where Sun = violence = power.

(Fig.3)

But, for example, in the case of J.F. Kennedy, he rapidly rose to fame starting around the time of his speech at the 1956 Democratic National Convention.

By the time of the trine of the Sun the following year, he was being invited everywhere as a Pulitzer Prize winner, rushing around busily giving speeches, shaking hands, and signing autographs.

(Fig. 4)

This, of course, was preparation for his leap into the 1960 presidential election.

But he probably thought, “Every day is crazy busy,” and likely hadn't yet imagined he could become the next president.

........When the progression Sun forms a good aspect with the natal Sun, especially for men, such feelings as

“Somehow feeling busy”

“Looking back later, that time was actually fulfilling”........

 are actually quite common.

4. So, what happens when the progression Sun is in opposition☍ to the natal Sun?

This basically means a state of intense tension with a powerful force, but it's not like being overwhelmed one-sidedly as with a square.

It's more like fighting while staring down a strong opponent.

The Gulf War fought by Mr. Saddam Hussain is such a case.

He fought against the overwhelming multinational forces of the West.

He held out little by little.

(Fig. 5)

.......That wraps up our explanation of the Sun as a star representing energy and power.

That's all for today.
