1. Well, this is the second installment on magic forms.
There are various types of formations called “magic forms”—besides magic squares, there are cross-shaped formations and circular ones known as magic circles, among others.
What Tanu-chan is about to describe is a shape made up of overlapping identical figures that contain numbers.

...............However, when you play this game yourself, be sure to break up the lines of the shapes a little or make some holes in them.
Here’s how to play: Overlap the same shapes facing opposite directions, fill in the squares with numbers, and arrange the different numbers so that the lines and circles match the same number.
............... The images at the top of today’s blog show examples using triangles and squares.
In the triangle on the right, the numbers 1 through 9 are placed in each box.
The Center is 0
The three lines—the vertical line, the line from the bottom left to the top right, and the line from the bottom right to the top left—all add up to 15.
Also, the three circles—the outer circle, the inner circle, and the one in between—add up to 15 as well.
In the square on the left is a little different: the three squares in the center contain the numbers 3 through 10 in each cell, with 13 in the middle.
The four lines and two circles add up to 26.
Try counting them!

3. Um, well, for now, I’d like to give you some homework—though it’s really nothing too difficult.
Here’s what it is: Combine four pentagons, fill in the numbers, and place different numbers in each cell so that the sums of the five lines and the three circumferences are all the same.

When drawing the shapes, you can cross out some of the lines or punch holes in the paper—something like that.
It’s simple, so I think you’ll be able to do it right away, but I’ll post the answer in about two or three days.
There are a few possible patterns, after all.
