 Magic Forms 3

1. Okay, today I’ll give the answer to the pentagon combination problem from last time. It’s best to try arranging it like the illustration at the top of the blog.

If you put 16 in the center and fill in the other squares with numbers from 1 to 15, you’ll end up with three lines that all add up to 40, and three circles that all add up to 40 as well.

Well, I think you can create all sorts of different designs.

Tanu-chan, I feel like this looks just like the one in the alien’s drawings, but of course, that’s just my imagination.

(Fig. 1)

2. So far, we’ve been drawing shapes filled with consecutive numbers starting from 1, but this time, let’s change our approach a bit and consider something that isn’t a sequence of numbers.

Let’s try this with a hexagon.

If you put 444 in the center, you get something that looks kind of cool: all six lines add up to 666, and the two circles also add up to 666.

(Fig.2)

The 12 zodiac signs—the center is 4 + 4 + 4 = 12—it looks just like the 12 signs of the zodiac (the zodiac belt).

If you add up all the numbers, you get 1776.

.....Huh?

Wasn’t 1776 the year the United States was founded?

..........................Of course, that’s just a coincidence.

Yes, it is just a.....

3. As you can see, there are lots of fun ways to play with this.

Now, for next time—though it’s not exactly “homework”—let’s fill in the cells of the drawing below, created by aliens, with the numbers 1 through 21.

Don’t put any numbers in the yellow spaces!

(Fig. 3)

We’ll set the center to 44.

" Please arrange the numbers so that the 7 lines and 3 circles are all aligned."

That’s all for today.
