㊹ Let's take a look at a little of the Chinese(Asian) astrology - "The 10 Heavenly Stems "~60 Stars Astrology Season 3 Ex Part 2.
1.Well, again today, with another extra chapter on the Chinese(Asian) astrology!
This time, I will explain the 10 Heavenly Stems (十干)of the Chinese astrology.
There is no celebrity horoscope or anything like that, so if you feel bored, you can skip this article!
2.The 10 Heavenly Stems is a cycle from 1 to 10, written in Chinese characters;
甲・乙・丙・丁・戊・己・庚・辛・壬・癸
In Japanese, we pronounce them as follows;
"Ki-no-e, Ki-no-to, Hi-no-e, Hi-no-to, Tsuchi-no-e, Tsuchi-no-to, Kan-no-e, Kan-no-to, Mizu-no-e, Mizu-no-to"
"Ki-no" means "of wood "
"Hi-no" means "of fire "
"Tsuchi-no" means "of earth"
"Kan-no" means "of metal "
"Mizu-no" means "of water"
"-e" means elder
"-to" means younger
The history of these 10 heavenly Stems is also very old, probably established before 2000 B.C. ⇓
In China, it was developed in combination with the theory of Yin-Yang and the Five Elements (the theory that the world is composed of 5 elements ( wood, fire, earth, metal, and water). And the Chinese people believed it could explain whole the world.
(甲乙 => yin-yang of wood, 丙丁 => yin-yang of fire, 戊己 => yin-yang of earth, 庚辛 => yin-yang of metal, and 壬癸 => yin-yang of water.)
3. I hesitate to say, but I do not think that these 5 elements and yin-yang system could represent all of the elements in the world.
In 60stars astrology, 360 degrees of the ecliptic is divided by 5 (360 degrees / 5 = 72 degrees is considered as a whole.) .
So, if we only look at the idea of "dividing by 5", it is similar.
But Tanu-chan thinks that the 10 Heavenly Stems (the cycle of 5 x 2 = 10) just represents the cycle of growth of living creatures (mainly fruits and crops).
Of course, the growth of the plants corresponds to the movement of the heavens, but it is not exactly the same.
Simply put, it is revealed in the meaning of the Chinese characters.
甲 => the part of the body that emerges from its hard shell.
乙=> buds grow up.
丙⇒leaves sprouting.🌱
丁⇒to grow into an adult size.
戊=> leaves are growing.🌲
己⇒They(plants) are in line and maintain their current state.
庚 => The appearance begins to wither.
辛⇒They gradually wither and die.
壬=> It leads to pregnancy, the life of the next generation.
癸⇒The seed begins to grow and break out of its shell.
The above is written in various books, and Tanu-chan would agree with this opinion.
Tanu‐chan thinks that this way of thinking about a year in terms of the 10 cycles of life probably had a great spread in ancient times all over the world.
The Chinese characters, I wrote about above, mean the same thing (the 10 lifecycles of a plant).
Ancient Rome, too, had only 10 months in 1 year, and this is said to be in accordance with the number of months it took for a fetus to grow and emerge from its belly.
In essence, I think also it was a way of applying the growth of living creatures to the calendar
Later, Julius Caesar and Augustus is said put 2 more months( their name months in July and August ).
Also I think the Japanese old calendar was the same.
The old calendar has 10 months with the letter "月moon" such as satsuki (皐月May) or kannazuki (神無月October), but the remaining 2 months "3月(弥生 /March)" and "12月(師走/December) " have no letter "月(moon)".
And we don't know exactly why. So I think Japan also had 10 months a year in the old days!
Double the 10, the Mayan calendar also has 20 months!

4. Even if Tanu-chan does not follow the Yin-Yang Five Elements Theory(陰陽五行説), I doesn't think we should ignore the 10 Chinese Heavenly Stems(十干).
As I explained before, the ecliptic could be divided by 10 or 20, i.e., the world (ecliptic circle) is divided by the Regular Dodecahedron (36 degrees or 18 degrees each).
I think "18°" or "36°" is an aspect that marks a "cycle" or an "era" , unlike the other aspects such as trine △ or square 🔲 that they indicate the occurrence of some events.
In that sense, it (="18°" or "36°" ) is similar to a "house".
Maybe, long time ago, 10 Heavenly Stems meant 10 era (or milestones ) of the life (plants and animals) , the same as Semi-Quintile.
5.In fact, when looking at the progression of the Sun☉, these 10 segments (each segment is 36 degrees) or 20 segments (each segment is 18 degrees), starting from the position of the Natal Sun☉, delimit each period of one's life.
For example, when you divide your life into periods such as your school years or your military life, it (semi-quintile) shows its meaning very clearly.
I think it is a little bit special.
I don't know why it makes such differences, but I guess the background is that 30, 60, 90, and 120 degrees are multiples of 30 degrees, but 18 and 36 degrees do not have such relationship.
6. Now, I finished in a very hurry to explain the Chinese (Asian) astrology.
In all the Asia, the yin-yang and five elements theory (陰陽五行説)had a very strong influence.
So it is difficult to know what the original form of the horoscope was like, when they introduced to Asia.
But Asian astrology has many similarities with the Western astrology, such as the ecliptic being divided into 12 (12 zodiac signs) and the great cycle of things being 60.
And It also fits well with " Tanu-chan's " 60stars astrology 😊
Tanu‐chan thinks that the Western astrology and the Chinese(Asian) astrology are much closer than the Mayan astrology, which divides the ecliptic into 20 zodiac signs and has 13 months.
