 A Quick Review for Those Who Forgot the Basics of Progressions

1. Well, I've written this many times before, but anyway, before explaining the progression article, I'll write down the basic progression formula again for those who've forgotten.

(Fig. 1)

The Sun in a person's natal chart begins moving across that chart after birth. 

Its speed is measured in degrees.

If it moves X degrees per year, its speed is V = X°/year.

For example, Adolf Hitler, born in 1889, had a Sun moving 3 degrees per year: V = 3.0°/year

By age 30, in 1919,
30 years × 3.0° = 90° the Sun has progressed.

Thus, at age 30, his progression Sun would be near Cancer 29° to Leo 0°

The Sun in the natal chart and the progression Sun formed a 90-degree angle, meaning a square. 

At this time, Hitler experienced battlefield injury, hospitalization, temporary blindness, and his homeland's defeat.

The Sun's unfavorable aspects signify defeat, imprisonment, and eye ailments.





2. Some may have forgotten the types and effects of these angles (aspects), but simply put:

If we consider the celestial sphere as 360 degrees, it is first divided into 12 constellations (signs)

Therefore, the aspects formed when dividing 360 by 12 are important:

0 degrees (Conjunction),
180 degrees (Opposition),
90 degrees (Square),
120 degrees (Trine),
60 degrees (Sextile),
30 degrees and 150 degrees (Semi-sextile).


Among these, the strong aspects are 0 degrees, 180 degrees, 90 degrees, 120 degrees, and 60 degrees.

The favorable aspects are 120 degrees and 60 degrees.

The unfavorable aspects are 90 degrees, 30 degrees, and 150 degrees.

However, 90 degrees is fundamentally powerful, while 30 degrees and 150 degrees are not as strong.

0 degrees and 180 degrees are the most powerful aspects, but they are not inherently  good  or  bad.

However, 180 degrees tends to be more often unfavorable.

When the progression Sun forms aspects with strong natal chart planets (such as the Sun, Saturn, or Moon), significant events often occur.

3. Furthermore, 360 degrees is divided into five equal parts of 72 degrees each, and each of these 72-degree segments is further divided into 12 signs of 6 degrees each.

These angles—72° and 144°—do not manifest as major events in progressions; they appear in slightly different ways.

The smallest unit is 18°. It relates to the pentagon formed by 18°–36°–72°.

It defines the subjective or emotional aspects of human perception.

Perhaps it's less about the objectivity represented by the four elements and more about subjective divisions.
